The statuesque Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe was originally built to service the large number of Catholic tourists flooding into Orlando following the grand opening of Walt Disney World in the ’70s. Today it’s a tourist destination in its own right, thanks to its spectacular architecture and the Shrine Museum, displaying church art from around the world.
