Arm Your Pet Free Rabies Vaccine And Microchip Clinic says
On Saturday, June 4 Orange County Animal Services will host the “A.R.M. (Animals Rabies Microchip) Your Pet” event in an effort to increase the number of microchipped and vaccinated pets in Orange County.

A.R.M Your Pet will provide pet microchipping and rabies vaccinations for the pets of all Orange County residents for free. In order to register the pet microchip nationwide, the pet owner will have to pay $9.95 to AKC, the microchipping company. There is a limit of 5 pets per household. Pets will be served on a first come first serve basis.

A microchip is a small device inserted near a pet’s shoulder blades and the device displays a number when it is scanned. Once registered, this number correlates with the pet owner’s information, which can be obtained through a microchip registration company. Microchips are the most effective way to reunite a pet with their owner if they are ever lost.

“We have already seen a small increase in cats that are reunited with their families this year. A little over 7% of the cats that entered our shelter as strays were reunited with their owners,” said Division Manger Dil Luther. “That reclaim statistic has increased from 5.5% which was the percentage a few weeks ago. We are hoping to see this number increase even more as a result of this event.”

Pet owners who would like to have their pets microchipped another day can do so for $15 per pet at Animal Services’ clinic between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Orange County Animal Services is located at 2769 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL.
