Don’t miss Dr. Susan Libby’s final exhibition tour of “The Black Figure in the European Imaginary.”

“The Black Figure in the European Imaginary,” which runs through May 14, 2017, is curated by Adrienne L. Childs, Ph.D., Associate of the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research, Harvard University and Susan H. Libby, Ph.D., Professor of Art History, Rollins College. The exhibition examines the multifaceted, nuanced, and often vexed relationship between European artists and the black figure. The exhibition includes works from various collections and institutions such as the Ackland Art Museum, Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Dahesh Museum of Art, Harvard Art Museums/Fogg Museum, Lowe Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Art Institute of Chicago, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Yale Center for British Art, and more.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by the museum and D. Giles Limited and available in the Museum shop.

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum is located on the Rollins College campus. No reservations or tickets are required for this event. Free parking is available on campus and in the SunTrust Garage on Lyman Avenue with a Museum-validated parking stub.

The museum is closed on Mondays, during major holidays and for installation of new exhibitions. Upcoming installation dates are May 15 through May 25.
