Learn to create your own decorative papers with techniques from the book “Painted Paper Art Workshop” which features over 30 different ways to paint paper. For this class we will be focusing on techniques for creating colorful papers for collage, scrapbooking, gift wrap, note cards, place cards, mobiles, etc. Elizabeth will teach a small sampling of techniques for creating vibrant and unique papers through demonstration and individual guidance. Combine this class with a Mini Collage Class for a hand-in-hand combo.

•VARIETY OF PAPERS, sheet music, maps, wallpaper, hand written notes, old book pages, hand made papers, deli paper, white tissue – variety of thickness and textures. You can do this totally with found papers.
•RICE PAPER, Hosho or Shuji Gami Kozo Paper Roll. Washi or Unyuri white papers with and without fibers/texture
•DECORATIVE PAPERS, papers you purchase at your local art supply store with fiber, embossing, metallic patterning, iridescent patterning. Please purchase in white or natural if possible, this allows for the most color options when painting
•GOLDEN FLUID ACRYLIC PAINTS & WHITE GESSO: Small container of white gesso to be used as white/opaque paint.
•PAINT BRUSHES variety of sizes from medium to large

•PALETTE PAPERA pad of shiny surface palette paper to use as a portable work surface for your papers
•GALLON PLASTIC ZIP BAGSFor organizing papers

About The Teacher:
Elizabeth eagerly awaits the arrival of her book Painting with Paper, to be published internationally by North Light Books in August (2016). Her work has also been published in Acrylic Works 3: Celebrating Texture (2015) and Incite 2; Color Passions (2014), both by North Light. A feature article on her mixed media collage artwork appeared in the April, 2014 issue of The Artists Magazine, she was also a finalist in The Artist’s Magazine Annual Art Competition (2014 and 2015) and took first place in the category of Collage/Mixed Media for The Artist’s Magazine All Media Competition (2010).

St. Hilaire authored an article titled DIY Marketing in the July/ August 2016 issue of The Artist’s Magazine. And awaits a feature article in the December issue of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine (where she has been featured previously) on how to use hand painted papers to create spectacular holiday gift wrap, gift tags, and greeting cards.

Born and raised in New England, Elizabeth has lived in Central Florida for the past 20+ years. St. Hilaire has earned Signature Member status with the National Collage Society and crisscrosses the country several times a year to take her paper tidbits on the road. Teaching and sharing her collage technique through an intense Paper Paintings workshop has become a passion.
