#WKT22, Fall I Session

Use hammers, mini-anvils and fire to shape from flat copper sheets a three-dimensional form without a mold or stamps. The instructor mentors students on how to use the metal-folding technique for creating a variety of three-dimensional pieces in copper by folding, hammering, forming and forging. With this precision application, you can also experience the plasticity of the metal and the work-hardening process, and you will develop new hammering skills.

This workshop is ideal for jewelers and metalsmiths of all levels of experience, but those with no experience are also welcome. At the end of the day, you will have created a rewarding copper piece to take home. Please bring ear plugs, as when a number of hammers are working together, it becomes very loud. Crealdé provides all the tools for the workshop. A $10 materials fee for the copper applies, payable to Crealdé at registration.

Stefan Alexandres creates artwork using ancient techniques – no molds or stamps, just hand tools. He draws inspiration for his metalwork from history, mythology, folk tales and real life. Website: stefanalexandres.com
