Lupus Awareness Boot Camp Fundraiser says
Our sister Karla Villacis [ FALL 2011 #3] has been battling with the cruel chronic illness known as Lupus since her early childhood days. Not necessarily because she herself experienced the symptoms at a young age, but because she watched her mother battle Lupus as well.

In 2011 Karla started to experience lupus-like symptoms such as extreme fatigue, joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and persistent aching. Treatment has been difficult, and at times unattainable as many tests and assessments go into diagnosing a patient with Lupus.

According to the Lupus Foundation of America at "There are many challenges to reaching a lupus diagnosis. Lupus is known as "the great imitator" because its symptoms mimic many other illnesses. Lupus symptoms can also be unclear, can come and go, and can change."

A lot of research has gone into finding a cure for this cruel mystery, but experts have been unsuccessful in finding one.

After 3 stressful and painful years, our sister Karla has finally been diagnosed with this illness as of May 2015 . Now, Karla and her family look forward to finding treatment and a healthy lifestyle for our dear sister.

The sisters of the Beta Theta Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. in conjunction with Stop The YoYo, and I'm Alive Fitness will be hosting a Lupus Awareness Boot Camp fundraiser in efforts to raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America. 100% of these donations will go towards the research going into finding a cure for Lupus.

In addition, It is Karla's testimony that she and her family wish to promote a holistic approach when battling Lupus. They wish to make it a point that this event is to spread awareness on how leading a healthy life style and focusing on nutrition can put certain illnesses like lupus to sleep and prevent many others in the long run.

Please join us on May 31,2015 at 10 am at Blanchard Park in East Orlando and get ready to sweat for a cause ! Please wear purple, and don't forget to donate beforehand or the day of.
