Nonhumans! Yag Call For Art, October 20 says
The term ‘nonhumans’ has been regularly used in the field of Human Animal Studies to refer to anything other than a human being. Many have criticized the term as being exceedingly anthropocentric. Would we ever, for example, use the term ‘non-carrots’ to refer to vegetables other than carrots? Nonhumans encompasses vertebrates, invertebrates, plant life, mythological and imaginary creatures, human-animal hybrids, human-machine hybrids, and the myriad physical, psychological and social exchanges, helpful and harmful, between human and nonhuman worlds. Young artists (15-21) are invited to interpret the theme however they see fit. Open to all media.
