O.K.: Physicality Of Mentality At Orlando Fringe 2016 says
As part of the 25th annual Orlando International Fringe Festival, Red Right Return Dance Company is incredibly honored to present "O.K.: physicality of mentality," exploring personal experiences with mental illness through contemporary dance and spoken word. When discussing ideas for this project, the broad impact of mental health issues became evident. While not all involved in the show had struggled with a mental health condition, almost everyone had witnessed a close friend or family member battling such issues. Statistically, close to 1 in 5 adults suffers from a diagnosable mental health condition, yet the subject remains taboo. Stigmatization, alienation and fear often lead those struggling with such issues to suffer silently and may deter then from seeking help. Through "O.K." RRR hopes to encourage awareness and understanding as well as provoke intelligent conversation on a subject of deep importance to us. Four Women choreographers; Heidi Busher, Paige Maxwell, Corinne Mele, and Kristin Ostebee have created invidual dances that when put together make a powerful statement about various mental states in society today. They are supported by the rest of the cast; Ayanna Adams, Ashley Kroft, Kim Matovina, Laura Mobley, Lexi Pliskow, Michael Sloan and Will Wimbush.
