Hours: 9 am-4 pm
Studio 1A and 1B

#WKP76, Spring Session

This three-day workshop for intermediate to advanced students will help you develop a complete understanding of how to plan and execute landscapes in oils or pastels with an emphasis on painting skies and water. The instructor’s working methods will be demonstrated and broken down into a step-by-step process, showing you how to achieve fresh, bright color in your landscapes, while avoiding muddy mixtures. Students can bring their own photos to work from, or they can paint using references that the instructor will bring to the workshop. Workshop limited to 14.

Michael Story earned a BFA from the University of South Carolina in 1976. He later traveled to New York, studying pastel and oil painting under internationally known artist Daniel Greene. Today, Story is an award-winning artist who regularly teaches pastel and oil painting, guest lectures and juries art shows. His client list of private buyers and corporate collectors continues to grow, including the Marriott Corp., Progressive Energy of Florida, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, Holiday Inn, Fluor Corp., Irving, Texas and Walt Disney World. His paintings have been reproduced by major publishers, such as Canadian Art prints of British Columbia, and distributed worldwide.
