This workshop elaborates traditional and contemporary prong-setting techniques Learn how to precisely measure the stone and customize the basket. With samples, demonstrations and hands-on projects, students will be guided through the fundamental applications for different stone cuts. We will compare the straight 90-degree angle with variations of the 80-degree and 70-degree baskets. Class is limited to six students. Crealdé supplies the studio equipment, soldering station and the basic jewelry fabrication tools. Students will provide any stones or silver supplies needed. For convenience, the instructor has a kit of these supplies available for purchase for $20.

Stefan Alexandres creates artwork using ancient techniques – no molds or stamps, just hand tools. A sculptor and jeweler, he draws inspiration for his work from history, mythology, folk tales and real life. A Crealdé faculty member since 2008, Alexandres apprenticed in traditional Old World metal arts, as guided through the organized guilds of Greece.
