Ladies and gentlemen, Austins Coffee is proud to present our closing ceremony for National Poetry Writers Month!

In year's past, we've closed off April with the world-famous Haiku De'tat, but this year we're doing things a little differently: Instead, The Unemployed Philosophers guild will help sponsor a little even we like ta call THE ULTIMATE ROAR!!! 8 poets step up, one leaves champion!

Each poet will be representing a single form or style of Poetry throughout the course of the night! Ghazals, pantoums, sonnets, sestinas, luc bats, Pindaric odes, haibun, villanelles, paradelles -- you name it! Each participant must have three original poems in their style to win the competition and an additional fourth poem to perform as victory lap! Winners of each round will be chosen by head-to-head system with a trio a judges waving either a red or not-red flag based on their preferred poem in each head-to-head round! Props, costumes, and pro-wrestling-style aliases are not only allowed, BUT ENCOURAGED! WHAT. That's crazy! AND there's prizes for all?!!?!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE: 1) Competitor The CoverGirl is the only poet permitted to compete with non-original work, so long as it's all memorized! 2) Anyone who chooses to perform as ambassador to a form less than 5 lines (haiku, tanka, limerick, et cetera) MUST freestyle their rounds with topic suggestions from the crowd!

Currently scheduled to perform: Hurricane Sestina; The Iamb Sheik, master of sonnets; Triple P -- the champion of prose poems; Silent H the masked defender of ghazals; The Pantoum Raider; The CoverGirl, and more!

If you wish to sign up, IM Curtis X Meyer! All participants are required to do research on their form so as to educate as well as entertain the audience! Any poets battling in THE ULTIMATE ROAR will be permitted to cut promo in costume and character onstage at the end of The S.A.F.E.! Words! Poetry Slam! Grand! Slam! Saturday, April 25 at The Bush Auditorium at Rollins College!

Everyone else -- poets, comedians, musicians, burlesques troupes, jugglers, dancers, pro-wrestlers, athletes of all kinds -- the open mic starts at 8pm! See you there!
