Break Belleruche's music down to its constituent elements – wah-wah pedal, groovy vocals and jazzy cymbals – and you appear to have some good ol'-fashioned soul on your hands. Reassemble these ingredients, and you get something far more nuanced, as redolent of recent hip-hop and rock bands (not to mention the trip-hop of Portishead) as classic soul music. The British trio burst onto the scene in 2007 with their smooth debut 'Turntable Soul Music', and put out a handful of albums – notably their sombre, chilling 2012 effort 'Rollerchain' – before 'disbanding' last October. Needless to say, they're back and ready to rock the Point Ephémère on March 2. We're psyched already.
