Time Out says

Travel is at the heart of Christophe Chassol's work. This globetrotting, classically trained, multi-talented pianist, composer and sometime filmmaker, colleague of Sebatien Tellier and former orchestral conductor, could do anything he set his mind to. As it happens, he's dedicated his career to introducing Western audiences to musical traditions from further afield. He wove Louisian big band music into his debut album 'X-Piano', and decamped to Kolkata and Varanasi to get inspiration for his follow-up release 'Indiamore'. His distinctly cinematic style finds new expression in his latest work 'Big Sun', grounded in a recent trip to the Antilles; he'll be performing the work in its entirety, together with fellow experimenter Nils Frahm, as part of the Villette Sonique festival.
