It took (only) 15 years for Louis Sclavis to establish himself at the forefront of the European jazz scene. The clarinettist from Lyon is a firm advocate of free improvisation, but that shouldn't scare off the jazz layman – Sclavis mines a whole range of musical traditions, from Rameau-esque baroque to Duke Ellington swing, for inspiration. Something for anyone who likes music, then, at the Cité de la Musique on January 11.
