Look beyond the cheap furniture and the waiters’ grumpy faces: Vietnamese canteen Pho 14 is the place to come for delicious Pho soups, filled with noodles, meat-balls, beef, or chicken, all served with fresh mint and basil. Other specialties worth testing are the crispy pork spring rolls (nems) and squidgy ravioli vapeur (steamed dumplings). There’s take-out too, if you don’t want to wait for a table (there are usually queues).

I've lived next to this place for ten years now, and the food has taken the same plunge downwards as the service. I've seen them switch to inferior beef cuts, then put less food in the plates, less herbs and less sauce, and now the broth is tepid. A far cry from what it used to be. I'm also just a bit tired of pleading with staff for a real chair instead of a very low stool. If I'm gonna get the same soup as everywhere else, and pay the same price, I might as well sit on the same chairs. Or go somewhere else.

The pho is delicious, but unfortunately, the service has gone down the drain in the past couple of years.  Gone are the smiling staff and the managers are too stressed to collect the cash for each bill. Shame.
