An enormous, modernist cultural theme park and gardens, one of the best things about Parc de La Villette is its varied music programme, courtesy of several differnent venues. Lovers of rock, pop, classical music and DJ nights are all catered for through an exciting series of line-ups – always worth checking out when planning your diary.

Café Chéri(e)

A popular DJ bar, especially in summer, when fashionistas flock to the terrace. Live music is played from Thursdays to Saturdays after 10pm. Expect anything from DJ Jet Boy's electro punk to rock, funk, hip hop, rare groove, indie, dance, jazz and '80s classics. Café Chéri(e) is also a chic daytime venue.

Nord-Est de Paris


State-of-the-art sound and credible bands make this the large venue of choice. Pete Doherty and the Pixies have all played here to full houses.

Le Cabaret Sauvage

A stylish, big top-shaped venue that's taken over by outside promoters for occasional club nights. There often used to be a world music element, but recently electronic and drum 'n' bass nights have begun to be held here, and, since the demise of Pulp, techno label Kill the DJ has started using the venue. Check the website for details of one-off nights.

Le Trabendo

This quirky spot in the 19th has carved out a niche in all things alternative, from post-rock to drum 'n' bass, avant-garde hip hop to modern jazz, with a bit of world music thrown in for good measure.
