Right on schedule, the moon made its way across the sun this afternoon, creating a rare eclipse from around 2 to 2:45pm. Philadelphia only got about 80 percent coverage, but the phenomenon cast an odd almost-darkness over the city that made it look much later in the day than it was. If you were in Center City, you likely saw folks standing on nearly every corner gawking into the sky. We’ve rounded up some of the best Instagram photos we saw of these people taking in the experience all over town—from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Franklin Institute to Race Street Pier.
