You’ve surely heard the hype about Mad Rex, the Fishtown eatery that’s being billed as Philadelphia’s first post-apocalyptic-themed restaurant and virtual reality lounge. This weekend it opened to its very first thrill-seeking customers, who crammed in to be the first to experience the 8,500-square-foot, 225-seat venue that boasts everything from a dining room, bar area and stage to a lounge, outdoor patio and dedicated VR chamber.

Curious about what a place like this looks like, but couldn’t make it to the opening this weekend? Check out photos from the soiree below, then consider swinging by. There’s a ton to do here, whether it’s dining out, having some drinks or throwing on some virtual reality shades. It’s also kind of perfect that it opened in October. Elements like the creepy dummies wearing gas masks that lurk over the dining room, a bright red vinyl electric chair and rusty machetes and motorcycles give the place a spooky vibe that’s ideal for any Halloween-time to-dos.
