After a mysterious decade-plus hiatus, Dave Chappelle is suddenly all over the place again. In the past year he’s dropped two Netflix specials (the last of which hints at where he’s been for the past ten years) and made waves at the Grammys as a side act of sorts to Kendrick Lamar’s show-opening performance. What’s he doing next, you might ask? He’s coming to Philadelphia.

It was announced this morning that the Chappelle’s Show comedian will host the 2018 Roots Picnic, which takes place at Festival Pier the weekend after Memorial Day: Saturday, June 2. Chappelle will also take place in a jam session with festival creator and headliner the Roots that will feature a slew of yet-to-be-disclosed special guests.

Other acts taking over the music stages that day include Lil Uzi Vert, 2 Chainz, Brandy, Rapsody, DJ Kid Capri, BadBadNotGood, Grits & Biscuits, the Sun Ra Arkestra and Bri Steves. Black Thought & J. Period Live Mixtape also perform with special guests Fabolous and Jadakiss.

On the Podcast Stage, look out for interviews and live show recordings from music-based podcasts such as Drink Champs, Questlove Supreme, Itsthereal and the Realest Podcast Ever.

A Lifestyle Stage features a host of event-centric to-dos like a Madden + NBA 2K tournament, and panels on art, fashion and “hustle.” Check out the full lineup in the flyer below.

Citi pre-sale tickets to the Roots Picnic 2018 are available now (here), and go on sale to the general public on Friday at noon. You can find those here. Set your alarm. These tickets usually sell fast.
