Hyper-newness reigns at Yowie—from the playlist (Cardi B, Lorde) to the assortment of merch (boob bath mats, Carlen Perfumes) and the fitting room (a Lucite-holographic funhouse). “We want Yowie to feel fresh every time you stop by,” says owner Shannon Maldonado. The FIT grad knew Philly was ready for a niche shopping experience after she hosted successful pop-ups at Meadowstreet Mercantile and UBIQ. The playfully modern Fabric Row shop is packed full of zines, ceramics, candles, graphic tees, servingware and jewelry from young designers who have roots in traditional craftsmanship. Keep a look out for the shop’s in-house pillow collection.
