As with most good things, “Inspirations by Bonnie and Clay" was not really preplanned or intentional. I often use clay for both sculpture and functional creations, as well as a pallet for new works. Deciding to emboss my son’s favorite quote in a tile was a spur of the moment idea, but caught on fast. Next came a tile for my younger son, a friend, and... well, here I am, many tiles later, and very much enjoying what I do.

All my tiles are created in my home studio, from start to end. I work with both high and low fire clay, which begin in large rolled slabs and are cut to various sizes. Each tile is individually embossed with sayings and quotes, letter by letter. There are no molds in the wording process or design. Once complete and the clay is dry, the tiles are fired in my home kiln.

In 2006 I left my corporate career and ventured out on artistic endeavors, where I happily remain to this day. Since, I have studied figurative sculpture as well as various forms of clay, both in Israel and in the US. Today I create all of my work out of my home based studio, in Cherry Hill, NJ. Outside my world of tiles I am also a sculptor, working primarily with wire mesh with a focus on the human form.

While the two realms of art appear as if they could not be
further apart, they share the same source of inspiration which I draw from people and everyday life.

Come out on 2nd Saturday from 5-9 and meet the artist!
