5 Years Ahead Of My Time

MFA Thesis Exhibition Like many before him, Alex Echevarria has consistently managed to stay at least 5 years ahead of his time. The paintings that make up this current display, which explores themes of identity, individuality, and collectivity, are no exception. In 1967, the band, The Third Bardo, released their only single titled, “I’m Five Years Ahead of My Time,” on Roulette Records. As Richie Unterberger has noted , the band remained little known until their inclusion on later compilations, such as “Nuggets : Original Artyfacts from the first Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968,” however they probably remain little known in the wider sense.
