A salute to the king of kaleidoscopic spectacle with two of Busby Berkeley's maddest musicals!
7:30 GOLD DIGGERS OF 1935 (Warner Brothers, 1935) - Directed and choreographed by Berkeley, this little-shown musical features the astonishing "Lullaby of Broadway" number that Buzz considered his masterpiece. Starring Dick Powell and Alice Brady.
9:15 THE GANG'S ALL HERE (20th Century Fox, 1943) The very definition of a camp classic, Berkeley's first color film stars Alice Faye, Carmen Miranda, and Benny Goodman. Numbers like "The Lady with the Tutti-Frutti Hat" (think giant bananas) and "The Polka-Dot Polka" must be seen to be believed.
