March Rhythm Session With Perseverance Jazz Band Feat. Sonny Troy

It's nearly springtime, and it's time again for West Philadelphia's monthly jam for jazz dance, jazz music, and jazz fans. Join us in celebrating the return of the sunshine. This month, our house band Perseverance Jazz Band returns, and they'll have with them accomplished jazz guitarist Sonny Troy, who played with Peggy Lee, Louis Prima, and many more greats! Perseverance Jazz Band brings youthful exuberance to the traditional jazz repertoire, featuring the masterful vocals of Swedish native Anna Cecilia Ferneborg backed by a tight quartet fronted by bassist Jonathan Davenport. From freewheeling 30’s swing to soulful songs of old New Orleans, Perseverance regularly tours the Eastern US playing concerts, house parties and dance events. Their new album, Hard Times Come Again No More has attracted the attention and praise of dancers and DJ’s in Europe, Asia, Australia as well as the US. You'll want to make sure you get to see this group of players play. Bring yourself, your friends, and don't forget your dancing shoes (you'll want to have them.) Want to bring your camera and snap a few shots, or bring something to snack on? Go for it! The quirky atmosphere of Take the Lead Dance Studio is one that everyone can enjoy, whether they've got a seat up front to watch from, are chilling out on the cozy couches, or are dancing up a storm on the fine hardwood floors. Music goes from 8-11PM, and a suggested donation of $10-15 helps pay the band and venue. Come join us for our all-ages jazz party!
