Dear Philadelphia Rave Scene, Let’s make a deal. We’re going to try something different. How about we throw a dance party that puts the vibe first? Waiting for the drop every song? This might not be the one for you. Showing up early to dance all night? We can make that happen. Some of the freshest talent Philly has to offer? On it. Drop by, and we’ll do the rest. DJ sets by: John Bean & Dr. EW [Future Thugs/Real Time] Back when everybody was enamored with tracks like “Woo Boost” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, the Future Thugs crew was blending southern rap with UK bass music, way before the trap wave hit. Whereas many of their peers and counterparts took influence from southern rap music and turned it into what we know as big room trap today, Future Thugs branched off in a different direction, bringing in elements of grime and two-step into their blends, resulting in a different fusion of rap and bass, something more danceable and vibey. After releasing a series of futuristic mixtapes and blends that quietly found their way into DJs crates all across the world, Future Thugs took a hiatus in 2011 when John Bean moved to Amsterdam, while Dr. EW went on to found the influential “REAL TIME” party with Bombé, Applejuce, and Speaker for the Dead. Now they've reunited for their first show in Philly in years, expect a diverse set spanning the full spectrum of rap and bass music and everything in between. Support from Architekt, JXLbeats, Jack Deezl, DWPLX and Freddie Fresh
