E. Davis, local Pittsburgh author of "A Period of Time," will be joining us for an informal author chat and book signing. Stop by The Big Idea on Saturday, April 2nd anytime from 3pm-7pm. (Free gift with book purchase).

About "A Period of Time:"
Emerald Dixion, a successful writer, embodies a princess in this modern day fairy tale of a young woman who is wooed by her prince, a well established movie star, Richard DeMarco. Recently Richard has become her acquaintance through his leading role in the movie version of Emerald's latest work, "The Topaz Chronicles." But when Emerald's fairy tale comes true can the love of her life be too intoxicating? With her insecurities, can this young woman learn to succumb to true love once she has it? Will once upon a time lead to happily ever after.

About E. Davis:
E. Davis, born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa where she currently resides, E. Davis was born on March 27, 1976. While watching an episode of the Jeffersons, she knew that she was to be a writer, she was eight years old. From the moment on, she was never with out a pen, pad or an idea. During the summers of 1991 and 1992, she attended an eight week writing course sponsored by the Ellis School, a private school for all girls located in Shadyside neighborhood in the the East of Pittsburgh, at the program she studies writes such as Alice Walker, Dori Sanders, just to name a few. While attending the program and up until the age of twenty-six, E. Davis was not sure if she should write screen plays or novels. E. Davis is influenced by authors Toni Morrison, F. Scott Fitzgerald and J.D. Salinger. In 2003, while on her thirty minute break at Staple Office Supplies, she wrote a short story The Date, which inspired her to write the novella, A Period of Time. It was during the writing of A Period of Time, that is when she realized that writing novellas is what she wanted to do. After writing a A Period of Time, she wrote Flaming Blue.
