Emily Jacir's work is about transformation, questions of translation, resistance, and archives. She investigates personal and collective movement through public space and its implications on the physical and social experience of trans-Mediterranean space and time particularly between Italy and Palestine. She is the recipient of a Golden Lion at the 52nd Venice Biennale and the Hugo Boss Prize. The largest survey of her work appears in “A star is as far as the eye can see, and as near as my eye is to me” now at Darat il Funun in Amman, Jordan. She is a professor at the International Academy of Art Palestine in Ramallah.
