Carnegie Mellon School of Art says
Tues > April 21 | Jules de Balincourt
Kresge Theater, 5 p.m.

Jules de Balincourt is interested in the physical and metaphysical properties of images that surround us. His resulting paintings stem from political, social or religious contexts filled with surprising paradox. In some of cases, a type of ‘pixellization’ occurs that dissolves the real and evokes another way in which everyday images are appropriated in the digital age. Balincourt’s work has been exhibited internationally including the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Mori Museum, Tokyo as well as at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, NY; MoMA, NY; and at the Royal Academy.
