Starting Sat., Oct. 15, Phipps’ Fall Flower Show: Bask in Nature's Bounty will fill the Conservatory with traditional harvest activities, colorful chrysanthemums and a touch of whimsy.

Keeping with Phipps’ annual tradition, this year’s show will feature 13 classifications of colorful chrysanthemums throughout the conservatory-wide fall harvest theme. The Palm Court will be decorated like a traditional vineyard with old barrels, rustic arbors and grape vines, and in the Sunken Garden visitors will find an old fashioned apple orchard and cider press. Other beautiful harvest displays await guests in the Victoria Room, East Room and Serpentine Room, including a gristmill and a travelling murder of crows overhead. The popular Garden Railroad also opens on October 15, taking visitors on a locomotive journey through Pittsburgh's history to celebrate the city's bicentennial.

The exhibit, designed by Phipps Plant Recorder and Display Horticulturist Laura Schoch, runs for only three weeks — through Sun., Nov. 6 — so be sure not to miss it! Hours are 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. on Fridays.
