Global Solutions Pittsburgh says
It’s a new year and time for our first event of the 2016 season. Global Challenges and Local Impacts is excited to present: Social Democracy in America. With election season swinging into full force around the country, this discussion will be an exciting and exploratory way to dive into questions concerning socialism in modern day America.

Presidential races have been black and white for many years now, with candidates for President coming from either the Democratic or Republican parties for major candidates. But it looks like our upcoming Presidential race could include a candidate that represents something in between. Senator Bernie Sanders was the first Socialist Senator elected in the United States, and is now in the race as a proclaimed Democratic Socialist.

In the past, any real proposition for the rise of social democracy has been cast aside as unrealistic. Now, however, there seems to be enough support to at least have the conversation. But why now? What does Social Democracy in America actually mean? Join us as we bring together local experts and community members from around Pittsburgh to shed light on this issue in our first GCLI: Social Democracy in America.
