King Lear Auditions says
Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks will be auditioning non-union actors for the September production of Shakespeare's KING LEAR featuring Ron Siebert in the title role of Lear. Jeffery Chips will direct an ensemble of eight actors (possibly 4 men and 4 women).

Blue Slide Park in Frick Park, Beechwood Blvd., Squirrel Hill, a main venue for the company.

Audition appointments begin at 10:30 am

There will be three group sessions:
10:30-11:30 am
11:45 am-12:45 pm
1-2 pm
There is a limit of 15 people per session.

Actors should arrive prepared for movement, interaction with other group members, and presentation of a memorized Shakespearean monologue. Actors may also optionally prepare to perform any singing, musical instrument playing, juggling, tumbling skill, etc., that they may wish the director to see.

NB: If you are unavailable for the audition date, the director is willing to Skype with you or review a submitted video of you performing a monologue. Please contact PSIP for details, if you want to pursue this.

TO SCHEDULE AN AUDITION, EMAIL HMMEADE@YAHOO.COM. Helen will send you an audition form, which you should print out, complete, and bring with you to auditions, along with your resume and head shot.

Non-union Rehearsals begin Mon., Aug. 3, Mon.-Thurs., 5:30-8:30 pm, Sat. 10 am-2pm, and Sun. 2 pm-6 pm, with Friday as the company day off.

King Lear opens on Sat., Sept. 5 and runs for 9 performances over four weekends, each Sat. & Sun. in September in up to 4-5 different city parks.

A small honorarium is paid to each non-union PSIP actor.
