Reel Q Pittsburgh LGBT Film Festival says
This event is 21+ ONLY

Following a screening of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Reel Q is proud to present MATTACHINE, a legendary queer dance party hosted by the following DJs:

AMBER MARTIN (NYC performance artist)
JOHN CAMERON MITCHELL (director: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shortbus)
PAUL DAWSON (Shortbus)
PJ DEBOY (Shortbus)

MATTACHINE celebrates the music of queer yesteryear. Spinning vintage vinyl, MATTACHINE creates a spontaneous, tag-team mix too authentic to be called “Retro” - hand-made classic rock, early pop standards, soul, funk, punk, disco, New Wave, classic country, old school hip hop - at MATTACHINE, all music is dance music.

MATTACHINE dance parties are the brainchild of PJ DeBoy and John Cameron Mitchell, and began occurring monthly nearly eight years ago at Julius’ Bar in the West Village of New York City. Fresh from their collaboration on the film Shortbus, the two created MATTACHINE as a way to revive the languishing bar - one of the city’s oldest - with a monthly party honoring queer pioneers. Now the NYC dance party comes to Pittsburgh, and you won't want to miss it.
