TechShop Pittsburgh is hosting a party to celebrate Nikola Tesla's 160th birthday!

Tesla was born at the stroke of midnight on July 10th in 1856. A Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist he is best known for his alternating current (AC) electricity supply system, yet has made numerous huge contributions to modern age. And he has a local connection- Tesla lived and worked in Pittsburgh in 1888 for George Westinghouse developing motors that worked with AC.
Come celebrate with together with a series of short presentations, project demos, and yummy foods! Organizer Mark Barlow as well as Geno Soroka of HackPittsburgh will be demonstrating some of their projects including homemade Tesla coils! Power conversion company PCTI will be presenting some of their Tesla inspired machinery, and local artist Niffer Desmond will present her remarkable 2016 edition Nikola Tesla Coloring Book with free sample pages to color as well as books and goodies for sale.

5:30-6:00pm: Project setup and tours for first-time TechShop visitors
6:00p to 6:30p : Meeting, Networking, Drinks Pizza
6:30p to 8:00p : 15min to 45 minute talks (If we have many speakers, we go short with the presentations)
8:00p to 9:00p : Tesla Coil Demos / Physics Demos / Different Maker/Art Stuff on Display Show and Tell
