Since the major change in the tobacco laws and then Medical Marijuana, we've see new concepts for social clubs pop up around town. Hooka Bars and OMMP Social Clubs are growing in numbers. Changes is another NEW CONCEPT. CHANGES is a Social Club, Music Venue and Eatery that is NON-Alcoholic. It's design is to function as a social club were those who NO LONGER DRINK can still go out and party with friends and have a good meal without temptation.
It's open to the public, Minors must be with an adult. This to foster a family friendly atmosphere. Nice sound stage, sound, and dance floor with lots of room to sit at tables or booths.
This is a great building for music... acoustic and electric, and the owner has sunk a lot of time and effort to help fellow former addicts have a fun place to dance and listen to great music, eat meals and stay sober. I find it easy to want to support that, so I'm taking on the challenge of creating yet another Open Mike and Jam in Portland. This will be every Monday... from 7 to 10 or later.
Guests for the Open Mike will get 4 songs... maybe five if not too crowded. If some jammers are there, feel free to get them up with you... or we may just have to do a few jams so they don't wander away. Over the first few weeks we have gained some additional equipment... a small drum kit, a Yamaha Keyboard... always welcome to bring your instruments and percussion. We're looking to create a group of musician to share original and cover tunes with... sound like something for you? Give us a try.
