Guide Dogs for the Blind says
Hundreds of craft beer fans will again raise pints to Portland’s patron saint of fine brewing — Fred Eckhardt — and raise funds for two charities, at Hair of the Dog Brewery’s 11th annual FredFest. FredFest celebrates Eckhardt’s life and pioneering role in craft brewing. Eckhardt was a friend and mentor to Hair of the Dog founder Alan Sprints.

A food buffet and more than 25 beers from craft brewers will be available.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the brewery’s long-time house charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), and to fund youth summer-swimming scholarships at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center (MJCC). Eckhart once taught aquatics at MJCC.

FredFest celebrates the life of craft-beer pioneer and Portland resident Fred Eckhardt, who died in 2015 at the age of 89. Eckhardt’s book, “The Essentials of Beer Style” is a beer-lovers bible.

Tickets: $65 each. Maximum of eight per order. For details and to order tickets, visit
