Portland Hempfest 2015: A New Beginning.

Event will focus on community, education and advocacy for the reform of hemp and cannabis laws.

On July 25th & 26th, 2015 local activists are bringing a new free-speech event to the City of Roses. The World Famous Cannabis Cafe, in association with the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), the NORML Women’s Alliance and Ladybud Magazine, presents Portland Hempfest, to be held at the Portland International Raceway. Seeking to highlight and connect the cannabis community, this year’s event will focus on the economic, environmental and ecological benefits of hemp, and the current issues surrounding cannabis legalization.

Modeled after Seattle Hempfest, but with a flavor that will be distinctly Portland, event organizers seek to advocate policy reform through education while advancing the public image of the cannabis community through example. Key note speakers will discuss the latest in cannabis research, and the legislative and health issues that affect families and neighborhoods. Musical guests will include some amazing local talent, and there will be industry and craft vendors from near and far. While there will be convenient parking, festival goers are encouraged to take advantage of the MAX stop right in front of the venue and make it a truly green weekend.

“The cannabis community is as diverse as Portland itself, and is an important part of society as a whole. While marijuana is sometimes regarded as a counter-culture issue, cannabis users can actually be found in every socioeconomic group. We hope to create an event that is inviting to everyone who supports industrial hemp, enjoys cannabis or wishes to learn more about this important resource. As the nation moves toward safer, saner marijuana policies we can work together to create laws that will benefit everybody.”

Portland Hempfest joins NORML in advocating marijuana reform by encouraging everyone in the community to educate themselves and participate in the legislative process.

This is a free event, open to people of all ages.
