Time, A Fair Hustler (based on characters in MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO) premieres at Artists Repertory Theatre, July 31 with Hand2Mouth Theater Company.

Seems like a good time to celebrate director Gus Van Sant, one of Portland's own, with a retrospective of his work, so a month long summer festival, "Gus Van Sant: 30 Years", celebrates the career of this local hero, and one of America's most adventurous film makers. This is a chance for fans to go even deeper into Van Sant's career after Northwest Film Center's Essential Van Sant spring series.

In PROMISED LAND, Corporate salesman Steve Butler (Matt Damon) arrives in a rural town with his sales partner, Sue Thomason (Frances McDormand). With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company's offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (John Krasinski) who counters Steve both personally and professionally.
