When I first stepped into The Maslow Time Square, I was utterly blown away by the interior décor. I couldn’t believe such a stunning hotel was tucked away in Pretoria. It made me reflect on all the times I travelled out of the province searching for luxury hotels, while something this exquisite was only 30km from home. Calling it “beautiful” almost feels like an understatement – modern, elegant, and effortlessly stylish.
I arrived quite late in the evening (after 9pm), but the check-in process was seamless. Even before reaching reception, I was left impressed - as soon as I drove into the parking lot, the security guard already had my details from the booking, so there was no need to produce documents or dig through my luggage.
At reception, I was warmly welcomed with a smile, and despite my late arrival, the staff made me feel completely at ease.
The hotel itself is vast, and its scale alone impressed me. Another plus is its accessibility - even by public transport.

What are the rooms like at The Maslow Time Square Hotel?
I slept in the median king room. At first glance, the striking curtains caught my eye, setting the tone for a chic and cosy space. The room was slightly smaller than expected, but neatly presented and well-equipped for a comfortable stay.
I appreciated the welcome note that was in my room. It added a personal touch.
The large TV in the room added a homey touch and I gave in to the temptation and watched a movie while snacking (as you do). This experience made me feel right at home on what I can confirm is a comfortable bed.
My room had a mini fridge and the usual coffee and tea facilities, while I also made use of their Wi-Fi, which worked excellently.
Depending on which level you book, the hotel has three different star grades. The lower floor has three-star-rated rooms, followed by four-star-rated rooms just above these floors. The uppermost floor features five-star luxurious rooms with beautiful views.
What is the restaurant like at The Maslow Time Square Hotel?
I’m a foodie, so seeing a beautiful restaurant with plenty of food options excites me.
Breakfast at the in-house restaurant, Appetite, was one of the highlights of my stay. The restaurant is stylish, and the food is delicious.
The breakfast menu caters to all tastes - whether you prefer something light or a hearty breakfast, the variety is impressive. From the drinks to the dishes, everything was exceptional.
The chefs were not only skilled but also engaging. They happily explained the dishes to curious guests like me. I loved that many of them were local, which gave the meal an authentic flair.
My absolute favourites? The banana bread and a savoury biltong pastry were out of this world. In fact, I enjoyed all the baked treats, and baker Lee-Chante Louw personally came out to share the inspiration and ingredients behind her creations. Honestly, I’d return to the hotel just for that breakfast experience alone.
Throughout my dining experience, waitresses asked guests if they needed assistance around the tables. They also constantly removed used dishes from the tables to ensure guests enjoyed their dining in a neat setting.
