Time Out says

The Pretoria National Botanical Garden is a favourite spot for birdwatchers and nature lovers. This peaceful space is home to over 220 bird species, as well as small mammals like the slender mongoose, scrub hare, and common duiker. You’ll also find more than 50 species of butterflies fluttering through the garden.

What to expect during your visit:

Enjoy a picnic or braai at the Eziko Braai Area (charcoal only), or book a guided tour in advance to learn more about the plants and wildlife.

Milkplum Café, located inside the garden, is open daily and also serves as a conference and function venue.

Planning a private event? African Pride Café is located near the visitor parking and can be accessed without paying garden entry fees.

Price:

  • Adults: R70 (April to August), R90 (September to March)
  • Scholars (6-17 years): R25
  • Children under 6: Free
  • Students: R45 (April to August), R50 (September to March)
  • Pensioners: Free on Tuesdays
  • Eziko Braai Area: R120 per person

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 8 am to 6 pm

Good to know:

Guided tours must be booked ahead of time, and only cashless payments are accepted in the garden.
