      For this week’s cover, we turned to illustration to articulate why New York is better than ever these days. We wanted a “look, now look again” city scene that evoked energy and feel of NYC in 2015—an image that's colorful, a little brash, sanitized yet still somewhat dirty, crazy diverse, and, ultimately, joyful. We knew Brooklyn-based illustrator Josh Cochran could bring life to this concept. He’s a master of crowded city scenes, and his illustrations are always full of clever details. You’ve likely seen Cochran's work before—it's appeared everywhere from this year’s US Open to the Ace Hotel, and within the pages of many other storied NYC publications. Here at Time Out New York, our covers move from concept to execution very quickly, typically within the span of a few days. It’s a challenge for any designer, but unsurprisingly, Cochran totally nailed it.
