Franciacorta Festival is returning to New York City

Franciacorta Festival is returning to New York City

You may not have heard of Franciacorta (say it: Franch-ah-COURT-ah), but this summer, it’s all you’ll want to drink. The Italian sparkling wine, which is grown in the Franciacorta wine region, is produced using ‘metodo classico’, or traditional method, which guarantees wines of the finest quality. Grape varieties (including chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot blanc and the indigenous, late-ripening white grape erbamet) are harvested by hand, slow aged and matured anywhere from 18 to 60 months. The result is a sparkling wine that’s refreshing, yet complex, available in styles ranging from brut to rosĂ© and even satĂ©n: a style unique to Franciacorta that is bottled at a lower pressure yielding refined bibbles reminiscent of satin. Discover the taste for yourself on Wednesday June 5, when the Franciacorta Festival returns into New York City for the second year running.  If you made it to last year's festival, you'll have fond memories of being transported to the Italian countryside (Call Me By Your Name, anyone?) and sipping refreshing Franciacorta by the region's top producers. For everyone else: you're in for a treat. From 6.30pm to 9pm, the Redbury Hotel (29 E. 29th St.) will play host to more than 25 wineries from the Franciacorta region, who will all be showcasing their most delicious drops. What's more, there'll be small Italian bites from Marta, all selected to pair perfectly with the Franciacorta wine you’ll be sipping. Tickets are just $35—book yours today. Want to try some

Win an at-home bar set up from Hopsy

Ever wondered why beer tastes better at a bar? It's not your imagination–pouring from a draft really is different. Of course, you can't take yourself to a bar every time you want a beer. For starters, they don't have your Netflix watch list queued up at the local. Enter Hopsy, which acts kind of like your own personal tap room, but is small enough to fit on your countertop. Hopsy partners with over 100 craft breweries from around the United States, like Bronx Brewery, Mill House and Keegan Ales, so there's always something different to try. You can also use the Sub for kombucha and cold brew coffee. If you suffer from the agony of choice (don't we all), Hopsy can curate your beer-supply for you, thanks to their Beer Club, which suggests new brews to try, lets you pick your favorites and then delivers four mini-kegs to your door every month. Samsung 837 is hosting fun and free phone photography sessions

Smartphones have transformed the way we capture and share photos and videos. Now, cameras and apps provide everyone with the ability to crank out high quality images and videos at a rapid clip, so even your grandmother can channel her inner Christopher Nolan from a device that fits in her purse. Among the hottest phones on the market right now is the Samsung Galaxy S9. At the brand’s flagship New York City space, Samsung 837 in the Meatpacking District, you can participate in a slate of events aimed at helping techies, influencers and your aforementioned granma to get the most out of the phone’s camera.   Even if you don’t have an S9, you can sign up for one of Samsung’s Photo Sessions—they’ll lend you a phone to use for the day. Samsung phone experts are on hand at each of the events, where they highlight a different feature of the phone, and take you on an excursion to test that feature out, out in the world. Past excursions have included super slow motion sessions at the Chelsea Batting Cages, and low-lit cocktail photography sessions at a nearby speakeasy. One of the most intriguing aspects of these events is Samsung 837’s super low light booth, which looks like a trippy selfie dreamworld. Guests can head into the space for an intimate, interactive walkthrough of the Galaxy S9’s bells and whistles, and walk out with enough know how to produce photos that look like they were taken in a professional studio. Those who want to attend can RSVP for free at the store’s websit
