Haunted houses : a brief history of Tel Aviv's abandoned buildings

In a city where every grain of sand is a hot real estate commodity, it's hard to believe that there are huge abandoned structures & buildings standing tall (or barely standing at all) on Allenby, along Tel Aviv's beaches, and near iconic towers like Azriel . Some of them have a glorious history, some have a promising future, yet everyone of them has a sad present.

After eight years: The Anna Loulou bar in Jaffa closes its doors

Anna Loulou, the Jaffa bar that became a symbol of coexistence, is set to close its doors. Why is it happening, when, and are they planning on opening a new place? The Anna Loulou bar just announced on their Facebook page they are closing, explaining "after eight amazing years in our cozy home at Hapninim Street in Jaffa, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you that the Anna Loulou Bar will be closing its doors at the end of this month. This was not an easy decision for us to make. As some of you know, our neighbourhood has become a residential area for the ultra wealthy. We find ourselves spending days and nights dealing with boring neighbors, police, and municipal agencies. What a waste of energy! We are taking a new way forward. Anna Loulou © Ben Palhov We have so many great memories from the past eight years. So much dancing, so many beautiful and embarrassing drunk conversations, so much music. And that’s just what we remember :) And so, sad though we are to leave our special cave, we are also crazy excited for the new road ahead of us. This is not the end of the Anna Loulou story. The future is full of opportunities. And we are going to work harder than ever to keep this community alive and together. Stay tuned!" Anna Loulou © Ben Palhov Over the years, the Anna Loulou bar has become a symbol of coexistence in Tel Aviv, albeit unintentionally, with many young Arab and Jewish people with common taste in music and parties visiting frequently. "When you can't see your life without weed, it's an addiction. We have to talk about it."

"When you can't see your life without weed, it's an addiction. We have to talk about it."

Israeli actress Lenny Cohen opened a support group in Tel Aviv for people who smoked weed for fun but couldn't stop even when the fun was over. What it did to her, and do you identify?   Smoking marijuana in Tel Aviv has become the norm. In social gatherings, bars, and in every corner of the streets, you can easily smell the sweet-sour cloud of cannabis. The city seems to have regained its support for legalization. With weed becoming legal in a number of countries in the United States, here too, there has been an awakening, and the government and the police are slowly realizing that no one can prevent people from smoking their evening joint before getting some shuteye. But with the fun of getting stoned, many people who smoke experience the high in a less pleasant way. Paranoia, panic attacks, fatigue, and there are those who dare to say openly - I lost control, I am addicted. Twenty-five year-old Lenny Cohen, an Tel Aviv-based actress, experienced the aforementioned addiction to weed for four years, and when she got to her boiling point, she decided to help herself while trying to help others. After she could not stop the habit on her own, she opened a support group for people dealing with a similar problem. "In the first two years I smoked from morning to night and I had a lot of fun because it suddenly brought me peace of mind, but then it got to the point where I smoked before exams and during the filming of a TV show and whenever I had a chance. Finally, I went into debt

"All I can say is that after almost four years we decided to move on," Tal Ben Baruch, one of the owners, told us. In addition to this, the Facebook page of the bar, posted inviting the public to celebrate with a closing party. "At the end of this month, October 27, Saturday evening, we will part ways and close the doors of Diego San, and this time forever, or at least until the day of the dead (Día de Muertos). It will also be a kind of a garage sale of our props and souvenirs." © Ben Palhov The most beautiful restroom ever seen in a Tel Aviv bar, the meticulous design with Buddhist style, the fancy drinks and buns, have made it one of the best nightlife spots for the Tel Avivian hipster, who once again have to bow their heads in farewell. In the past 18 months, the place has gone through a culinary upgrade, for example, when chef Noa Levy, who worked for seven years in Joz ve loz, joined as an official chef of the San Remo group and made some special changes. It's not yet clear what the owners are planning from now on, but we're sure we'll miss the perfect Bloody Mary, and the great e

8 ways to deal with spinsterhood like a queen this Pesach

A cruel night for single women? No more. This Passover, single women in Tel Aviv are going to deal with the solitude like the queens that they are – through an amazing binge of all the shows, films, and books you can imagine. Because if you're talking about freedom, you might as well celebrate solo without boundaries.   Book A Table For One: A Critical Reading of Singlehood, Gender and Time by Kinneret Lahad Dr. Kinneret Lahad's book clearly describes a thought that has been amorphous in the minds of many women since the dawn of history: "If I am a 28-year-old (or older)single woman, then I am old." Lahad creates a separation between the two existential, and totally justified fears – the fear of being alone and the fear of aging – and helps the modern single woman realize that aging is not a sin and singlehood is not a mark of shame.   Video A Very Realistic Military Game: Inside Amy Schumer It's hard to choose from Amy Schumer's many skits, but if one were able to express in the sharpest and funniest way the male ignorance towards the subject of sexual harassment, this is it. It is true that not every man is impervious, but you can admit that you have found yourself in a similar situation many times. After you see it, suddenly you will be comfortable sitting alone and watching videos without having to convince some tactless man to notice you.   Play  Doña Rosita the Spinster by Federico García Lorca Reading is not exactly the most popular among the offers here and certainl
