A local’s guide to Lake Garda

A local’s guide to Lake Garda

Stretching just over 32 miles in length from the foot of the snowy Alps to the sun-drenched Padana flatlands, Lake Garda is the largest body of water in Italy. Its extensive shoreline is a spectacular succession of Roman remains, medieval towns, ancient olive groves and grand villas. The lake has attracted tourism since the classical era, when wealthy Romans came to enjoy the salubrious thermal waters that bubble up along its edge. Today, Garda still exudes the languorous feel of a summery Mediterranean resort with its mild microclimate, lemon cultivations and lakeside restaurants for long lunches.  Tempted to visit? We don’t blame you. This is how to spend your time in Lake Garda, according to a local. Rebecca Ann Hughes is a travel writer and Lake Garda local. The 9 European destinations you need to visit this autumn

The 9 European destinations you need to visit this autumn

With summer travel losing its sparkle, we’d argue autumn is actually the best time of year to travel in Europe. You can still catch some warm weather without being uncomfortably hot, the tourist crowds are abating and the foliage puts on a spectacle. In this shoulder season, Europe has something for everyone. Scotland satisfies leaf-peepers with russet forests, northern Italy prepares an autumnal food feast and Crete has late summer sunshine for those not ready to welcome winter just yet. These are the best places to visit in Europe this autumn for warm weather, culture and seasonal festivals. A much-missed Ibiza superclub is reopening… in Italy

A much-missed Ibiza superclub is reopening… in Italy

If you visited the White Island pre-2016, you might have (hazy) memories of wild nights at Space Ibiza, the self-proclaimed ‘Mecca of electronic music’. The legendary superclub closed its doors seven years ago after its lease expired, ending an almost three-decade run. The venue reopened in 2017 under the new name of Hï Ibiza – and, last year, Space opened a restaurant-slash-bar on the other side of town – but Space, in all of its original glory, has never returned.  But if you’re a die-hard fan with a Space-shaped hole in your life, we have good news. The team behind Space Ibiza has announced the opening of Space Riccione, a new edition of the club, in spring 2024.  But don’t rush to book flights to Ibiza. The new venue won’t be opening in Spain but instead will relocate to Riccione on Italy’s Adriatic coast, a beachfront resort town easily accessible from Rimini airport.  Why Riccione? Well, it might not be as internationally renowned for clubbing as Ibiza, but Riccione does have a vibrant party scene of its own, with long-standing beach discotheques and plenty of international DJ appearances. Add to that a long stretch of sandy coastline, upmarket boutiques and beachfront restaurants serving up seafood and delicacies from the Emilia-Romagna region, and you have yourself a perfect party holiday spot. Space announced the new venue on Instagram, revealing little other than it will be split into four areas: the Arena, Garden, Terrace and Lounge. Owner of the Space brand Pepe R
