Art On Film: Werner Herzog's "Aguirre, The Wrath Of God" says
The exhibition "Highest Heaven: Spanish and Portuguese Colonial Art from the Roberta and Richard Huber Collection" offers the perfect opportunity to screen this classic Werner Herzog epic about a Spanish conquistador venturing into the jungles of 16th-century Peru. Starring the inimitable Klaus Kinski as Don Lope de Aguirre, this film became famous for the on-screen brilliance of its actors and director, as well as Kinski’s behind-the-scenes tantrums. Shot on location in the mountains of Peru, Aguirre is not to be missed on the big screen. The film will be presented by Jaimey Fisher, associate professor of German, cinema, and digital media at UC Davis.
