Classical Concert: Anyssa Neumann says
Sacramento-born and London-based pianist Anyssa Neumann presents a program of Central European composers inspired by the Crocker’s permanent collection of European paintings. This concert of 19th- and early 20th-century works includes pieces by Richard Strauss (Bavaria), Leoš Janáček (Czech Republic), Nicolai Medtner (Russia), and Ernst von Dohnányi (Hungary).

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, University of Oxford, and King's College London, Neumann is active as a performer and researcher, and has been praised for the “clarity, charm, and equipoise” of her performances.

For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented it’s Classical Concert Series, a monthly concert featuring the finest musicians and singers from around the region and across the world. Performances are 50-minute concerts that draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum and offer audiences a chance to hear a variety of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. Performers are selected by the Crocker’s Classical Concert Music Board based on experience, quality of proposed program, and, most importantly, talent and musicianship.

In advance of the Classical Concert, enjoy a docent-led tour of 19th-century European paintings from the Crocker's permanent collection to help put the music in context with the art. Prelude Tours are open to all visitors.
