Will's Biography:
Will began his musical life with the guitar, learning rock ‘n roll standards at the age of twelve. He studied privately with several teachers and grew interested in jazz, blues, and classical guitar. At age fifteen, Will was accepted into the Interlochen Arts Academy’s prestigious guitar program, where he studied intensively in classical and jazz repertoire under John Wuncsh and Bill Sears. His time at Interlochen was invaluable to his growth as a musician and performer.

In 2006, Will journeyed to the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. With a firm background in Western music, he immersed himself in the Institutes’ one-of-a-kind world music program. Over the course of four years, Will studied intensively with master musicians from Ghana, India, Iran and Indonesia. During this time, he also continued to explore and compose original music inspired by a world of influences.

While at Cal Arts, Will’s most intensive work was accomplished in the area of North Indian classical music. Beginning on the sitar under the guidance of Ustad Aashish Khan, Will found ease and inspiration in this ancient music. His dedication to the sitar led him to become a student of sitar master Roshan Bhartiya in Denver, Colorado, and he has spent five years visiting and learning sitar from Roshan. Will’s immersion into North Indian music took yet another step as he became a tabla student of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri in 2011. With blessings from his teachers and years of hard work, Will has developed a unique style and voice in Hindustani music. He performs and teaches in Los Angeles, California; San Diego, California and Boulder, Colorado.

Will’s music is unique to his deep, creative spirit and it draws influence from literally the entire world. His intuitive touch for sacred, innovative, melodic improvisation brings bliss and tranquility to his listeners. Will’s gift of creating healing sonic landscapes has invoked much collaboration with yoga and meditation teachers alike. Will aspires to be a teacher of the world’s music to celebrate diversity and promote cultural awareness. He has earned an MFA in North Indian Classical music from the California Institute of the Arts.
