Ale Smith's 1st Annual Ipa Week says

In the past, AleSmith has celebrated the magnificent hop on our IPA Day (July 14th), which typically falls on the second Tuesday of July even though the official IPA Day lands on Aug 6th. This year, since San Diego is such a hop-addicted city, we’ve decided to expand the celebration for a whole week of specialty IPAs, educational seminars, and unique hoppy creations. Join us for the festivities July 13th – July 17th and see what our brewers have been cooking up just for you.

Monday – Hop Education at the Observation Room

Starting Monday at our Observation Room we will be serving up the AleSmith IPA with a variety of different hop profiles. We will have a New Zealand hopped IPA, a German IPA, an IPA created using an experimental hop (HBC 342), as well as an IPA made with English hop varietals. In addition, we will also be providing a guided tasting that will highlight the different flavor profiles of each IPA at 5 pm.

Tuesday – IPA Day Main Event

Tuesday is typically the main event for IPA Day, so during our IPA Week this will be no exception. Starting at noon at the Cabot location we will be pouring the most experimental IPAs that we created for this year’s IPA Week. Each of these IPAs will focus on different flavor infusions that highlight and enhance the traditional hop additions in our IPA. Tuesday’s tap lineup will include a Yerba Mate IPA, a ThaiPA (AleSmith IPA dry hopped w/basil, lemongrass, ginger, and coconut), a Passion Fruit Summer YuleSmith Cask, a Citrus IPA Cask, as well as a specialty IPA infusion using our Randall.

Wednesday – Specialty IPA 32oz Growler Fills

Lately our Wednesdays have been reserved for specialty 32 oz growler fills and for IPA Week this event will continue. Grab your 32 oz growler (AleSmith or unlabeled) and come on by either of our locations to get fills of several of the specialty IPAs we have tapped thus far.

Thursday – AleSmith’s first IPL and his friend Brett

Thursday we will focus on our microbial friends that make beer possible. We have been using different yeasts to create wildly different IPAs and will be unveiling them at our Cabot location. Tapping on this day will be an AleSmith IPL as well as an AleSmith IPA brewed using Brettanomyces.

Friday – Full Pour Friday

Friday, we will be releasing three all-new IPAs at our Observation Room: a Session IPA, an Imperial AleSmith IPA, as well as a Harvest Ale. Each of these beers will be available for full pours all day at our new Observation Room.
