This year for our annual Beyond La Jolla program, the Cross Cultural Center and the Black Resource Center will be taking an excursion to the California Center for the Arts, Escondido to visit their current art exhibit. The History and the Hair Story: 400 Years Without a Comb is a journey of the African American hair industry and its role in our present culture. From its origins in the seat of civilization to the epicenter of the civil rights movement, the comb's untold story takes the spotlight in this exhbition by way of 400 years' worth of artifacts, photography, historical accounts, propaganda, and much more. The cross cultural center will be providing transportation, admission, as well refreshments both in the morning and afternoon. This event is open to all UCSD students both undergraduate and graduate (PID required), however space is limited so be sure to sign up soon! The event is free but a deposit of $5.00 is required to reserve your spot, this deposit will be returned on the day of the event.

Please arrive at the Cross Cultural Center at 9:00a to enjoy refreshments and icebreakers
Buses will depart at 9:30a from the Raza Resource Centro and return at 3:00p
Sign-Up deadline as well as deposit/liability waiver is due Jan 15
