Have you ever wanted to learn how to DJ? Then sign up for our new DJ lessons! Our lessons are group lessons, designed to teach up to 5 students at a time and teach both through detailed lecture and hands-on practice.

The lessons are three hours long and cost only $60 per student. The equipment is taught on industry standard Pioneer brand DJ gear, the same equipment used in just about EVERY nightclub or venue in the world. After ONE of these sessions, you'll easily be able to come in to Somewhere Loud's Open Decks DJ auditions on Tuesday nights (free) and start your DJ career :)

This is what happens during the lesson:

HOUR 1: Detailed overview and demo of the CDJ-2000, CDJ-2000 Nexus, DJM-900 or 2000 mixer, the same gear that we use on all of our stages and in the open decks auditions.

HOUR 2: Lessons on important aspects of DJing just as mixing, timing, phrasing, song selection, booth etiquette, fader/knob technique, listening, headphone technique, and beatmatching. Your instructor will explain their preferences and techniques.

HOUR 3: Students take turns practicing a variety of transitions with different genres of music, trying out effects and tricks, choosing songs, and gaining comfortability with the equipment and the art of DJing.

There are two group sessions on Wednesdays. The first one is from 3pm to 6pm, and the second one is from 6pm to 9pm. Depending on demand, one of the blocks can be reconfigured into studio time for DJs to record mixes or practice for upcoming sets. 12pm to 3pm are already set aside for solo practice, one-on-one lessons, and mix recording.

If you're interested, post on the event page or contact Tommy Maverick.
