Filmmaking Camp July 25-29 1 pm-4 pm Grades 4 - 8
Filmmaking Camp provides students with hands-on experience in the many roles that go into creating a film. Campers experiment with script writing, set design, storyboarding, costume procurement, location scouting, acting, and directing. Participants in this camp will learn to shoot and edit in High 8 cameras to produce richly textured narratives from their own imaginations.

Filmmaking Camp will be led by SDAI Artist in Residence Omar Lopex. Omar is a filmmaker & artist based in San Diego/Tijuana. He employs analog formats including wet-plate photography; Polaroid; 16mm/Super 8 film; and VHS tape to produce collaborative work with strangers. Omar has exhibited at SDAI, LOW Gallery, La Jolla Athenaeum, San Diego Museum of Art, Oceanside Museum of Art, Santa Monica Museum of Art. Omar has experience teaching at Emory and Einstein Elementary Schools and Inner City Outings. He has collaborated with children on numerous photo and film projects.
